Operating Systems in 2025
Linux sucks and falls short of Windows inherently, and has a community full of god complex weirdos and annoying commies
Windows 11 is sucking due to crap design and unnecessary AI implementations
Windows 12 probably will be even worse, who knows
Mac OS especially latest ver 26 Tahoe sucks so much it created a black hole

Linux: crying about every game that has an anti cheat while simultaneously claiming it's the "best desktop experience even for gamers"
Windows: let me just disable 90% of the OS's functionality to make it useable
Mac OS: I really love this new shiny leash apple attached to me and having no games

Multiplayer games are garbage anyway, who cares about them? I am able to play 99,99999999999999999 % of the games I wanted the only exception I can think of is Conan Exiles, that I wanted to try, other than that I don't remember any other game that I wanted and could not play it because of Linux.
Also most of the games I reallly care about thasnkfully are available on emulation too which is the best thing for preservation.

Ok so keep letting Microsoft scam you and keep playing multiplayer garbage just because of your friend.
I can't enjoy both things at the same time, when I try to enjoy both friends and videogames at the same time I feel like I'm just wasting time and enjoy none of them.

im still on 10 but stripped down of 90% of the microsoft crap, probably the way i will be for a very long time if 12 turns out to be ass too.

and okay? not everybody feels that way, lucky you I guess

The best OS is Hannah Montana Linux.

I don't know what these "AI features" are that people talk about in regards to Windows 11 because I've yet to see anything AI apart from Copilot, which can be uninstalled.

And Copilot is a separate app.

Either I've gotten a very special version of Windows 11 or people exaggerate it.

my issue is that it is likely going to be the thing they primarily focus on from now on, as well as plenty if issues with win11 being sluggish and having forced stupid animations on everything

just not interested in this stuff especially since they likely need you to sign in your microsoft ID (which is now mostly mandatory) which i'll never do

Wouldn't it make more sense to make this argument when it has actually happened? Right now you just make a guess of the future and you don't know how good or bad the future additions are going to be.

There are couple of ways to look into this though. For one, operating systems make algorithmic operations on the background all the time.
They need to organize tasks for processing, allocate memory, run disk operations, search indexing etc. The simplest form of AI would be adding machine learning to those already existing algorithmic operations which is possibly going to speed them up and improve the performance of the system and the computer.

I'm not sure why you'd be categorically against it if it can be a net benefit.

depends, if AI can deliver that, i'm all for it, my fear is though that I think using AI to build the OS will result in less rigorous testing and more laziness, less awareness and proofreading of code. i think it's even inevitable that a piece of barely-checked code written 100% by AI will make itself into an update and cause awful data loss.

as for the other features, again, i dont wanna use a microsoft account so whenever they come out with a "NEW EXCITING AI FEATURE" it doesnt apply to me so i am uninterested and praying they come out with something actually interesting. even before AI though whenever microsoft came out with something "new" it always sucks, my Win10 install is basically simple how it was with win7.

yeah but it has a REALLY annoying talentless bluesky fanbase who wear the OS as an accessory. really annoying "akshually" fanbase and if that's the future of the OS user base, I don't see much of a bright future in it.

by the way, its GNU/Linux................

So your criticism is more about the vibe coding trend rather than being categorically against all AI features. I understand the concern but Microsoft is not an outlier. Vibe coding is inevitably going to be everywhere because human development is way more expensive. Not too long ago, Fedora Linux announced that they'll allow vibe coding and several other Linux distributions are expected to make similar announcements. Because they are projects with limited resources and they are also looking to minimize costs.

As it stands though, AI is still at a very early stage in consumer-end products and services, and primarily for the companies, programmers and back-end.
