Hopefully a military action that completely destabilises Venezuela (it's basically only propped up by Maduro stealing everything not nailed down) and causes a tidal wave of refugees all over Latin America and the Americas as a whole, which is the only real reason nobody has done anything about Maduro yet.

Most of the drug production is from Colombia & Mexico (both key USA allies in the region), which in one way or another has been green lighted due the blank check the CIA has, in order to adquire "non-official" funds for their off the books operations...
Reminds me that the folks in your govt knew the Saudis did 9/11 (which was side effect of Operation Cyclone aka funding the Mujahideen (religious zealots) that later funded Al-Qaeda & the Taliban and similar type of groups), yet choose to invade Iraq for the oil and Afghanistan for the opium & rare earth minerals...

Because due to the nebulous web that is international politics everyone ends up getting money and supplies from everyone else. Additionally there's the whole "nation building" concept where if one group seems better than the others you support them to try to get them into a dominant position so they run their country in a way that is best, but generally those groups are either deceiving their benefactors or get internally overthrown once they get a dominant position.

Also the US can't do anything but ignore the Saudis. Because the Saudis hold mecca they're kind of unassailable. You fight them and you have to go to war with the rest of the islamic world, even if the rest of the islamic world claims to hate them.
