As a ghost, I just wouldn't enjoy haunting a shopping mall.
Florence Pugh's underware drawer.
heck, I already have the worst seat in the house for the things that's happening in this world, what do I need a rearview mirror for? just saying I haven't found the thing that is worth a rearview mirror as a ghost for.
and I am enough haunting as it is, they sometimes use words as psychotic to describe me.
I would haunt people who don't ever clean their belly buttons. Their stank is visible interdimensionally, like a bell ringing throughout the underworld, sounding waves of stinky smell trails that lure dirty demons into nearby realms; with their dirty daemonics which can create from the travelling stench--a deadly, floating tar that they want push back through the dimensional gap to destroy the clean people of this world!
Bending your rule/guideline a bit.
Would just wander the whole globe, it'd be dull to be trapped in one structure, even past the time it falls apart or eventually gets buried. (Lots of buried towns and villages from the past).
Seen day or night, my game, to play with the light, that is my right, to give all and any a fright, for a precious few a delight, may their hearts be tight, before I set their souls alight. All right?
You remember the old finger/hand shadow puppets/plays, during the night my canvas would be the moon; during the day it would be the Earth itself (better bring some shades so you can stare at the sun safley).
I'd tell you a story or two, wreathed both in shadow and light, soundless, the meaning, boundless, some might construe a prediction, of the future of you.
The ritual; skip a stone across a still body of water, while wordlessly watching the shimmers dancing across the ripples; holding the desire for an other worldly story teller to give company in your heart and mind, a true one, not a cynical one, cynics can enjoy a world free of magic, drowning in their boredom. That'd be the price.
*cough*
Most of my haunts are self-contained one-offs like this one.
Oh, if you seek peace and solitude, this is the perfect option: no unwanted urban noise or bothersome neighbors, only the wild animals of the forest for company. The forest spirit is also a master of misdirection. You can invisibly follow random travelers, make their compass needles spin wildly, or summon distant laughter that echoes from every direction, leading them off the path. The very forest becomes a living extension of your will and a shield around you.
Of all the drawers in all the world, it's not a bad choice. To be honest, I didn't know that to expect from you. Thanks for no jump-scares.
I would spy more than haunt. Then I'll find that one guy who can see me and we would become like the Wonder Twins - saving the world.
The ritual is perfect - the cynics will never know what they're missing
Just like an old time movie, 'Bout a ghost from a wishing well.
In a castle dark or a fortress strong, With chains upon my feet.
You know that ghost is me.
And I will never be set free, As long as I'm a ghost that you can't see.
