Democracy needs reform, not replacing.
Under the UCMJ, a soldier/sailor/airman/Marine has not only an ethical, but a *legal* obligation to disobey orders that violate the Constitution or established law. The Congresspersons who pointed that out were stating something any service member or veteran should already know; it's only civilians who draw their understanding of the service from Call of Duty or war films who might think literally anything the CIC (POTUS) orders is automatically "lawful."
That Trump immediately went to "sedition, punishable by DEATH" just proves the point, really.
trump phenomenon, on the other hand, is pretty simple. it's almost reptile brain but not quite reptile brain.
babylon 5 universe never faced anything like this because it assumes that everything in it is beyond such clashes. every faction in it is uniquely enlightened and in their safe space.
