Republicans do not want to fund education properly.
For example, instead they would rather give private school parents vouchers and subsidies (most who do not need it -- not that anyone should be getting it in the first place), draining it out of the education budget.
The United States is a joke, and it's even more of a joke with Trump, the child rapist, as president.
In addition, there is massive fraud and waste associated with those private school subsidy programs that shouldn't exist in any state. That is, massive fraud and waste on top of the normal massive fraud and waste that the program is to begin with.
Oh, it's not "evil socialism" all of a sudden if mostly rich or middle class private and home school parents get free things, free things they do not need because the private education lobby gives money to Republican politicians in your state.
I wonder if all kids will still eat free or they'll bring back reduced/free lunch programs for the needy?
We had a great public school system before the Department of Education was set up. So we really didn't need it in the first place.
Exactly this. America has become a nation of grifters. I don't know if this is the natural progression of a strictly capitalist society, or just Trump and his goons inspiring the sociopaths.
I guess its both.
Lunch used to be $2.50 when I was growing up, got approved for the reduced lunch program and got down to .75 cents.
Dad would give me $5 each week.
Eventually I'd save up enough to drink a soda at school! Or even with a snack from the vending machines! Or nachos from the consession stand!
Well the states couldn't do any worse than the DoE.
That's what they say
