What's the longest you've gone without checking your stock portfolio?
I've been investing since just after covid when the stock market was pretty low, I only ever buy a global index fund so it's well balanced and "safe" as much as safe can be in the stock market.

But even now I still check everyday, I just can't help it. It's not that I'm scared it's going down or excited that it's going up, I'm just curious, I want to know... And now it's kind of a habit.

I wish I was one of those people who could forget their investment and only check it once every few months just to make sure it's still on track kind of thing.

I check my IRA accounts pretty regularly. 401k not so much.

Keeping a close eye on crypto and metals markets daily.

Having had investments for millions of years now, I rarely check them directly.

Sure, I consume news and information at levels few do. People would pass out at my reading lists.

I am learning so much that it is making me heavier. There is so much knowledge in there that it is starting to weigh me down.

But, I learned over time that it isn't healthy to monitor one's portfolio too much. It's like pulling a plant out of the pot too often. It's better to let it do it's thing for long stretches.

See, a true investor has very long horizons and does not make rash and panic moves on the latest highs and lows. Many even practice capitalism in reverse by being a headline follower.

They buy into rallies and pay top $$ and then panic sell on the lows and lose their ***.

No, many investors really are little more than gamblers. If I wanted to do that, I could go to The Strip and at least do it in a palace. Maybe the cocktail waitress has one of those hot waitress builds. Maybe one of those kinda medium thick builds that looks really good in those tight uniforms and she has that hot waitress walk. Perhaps she might have guy needs and the other guys just aren't doing it for her. Everyone has needs.

No, I haven't actively managed my holding for years. If I need money, I just call up my broker and he sends me whatever I need.

This is how it's done.

I think investing being so accessible with apps like Robinhood have completely ruined some people.

Exactly!

The phone already is a crackpipe. They aren't investing.

Nonsense like Robinhood is just a slot machine- just with no curvy waitress walking around.

Indeed!

Blackjack, garden tools and whiskey, at the very least.
