Actually, eyes are an example of convergent evolution. Those evolved multiple times in different forms, ours not even being the most advanced. Mantis shrimp have way more advanced vision, for instance.

Fun fact: when folks say "I'll pray for you" and there isn't a specific reason why (eg serious injury, loss of relative etc), usually it's condescending BS.

I think there's probably some psychological egotistical dynamic to it all, maybe something which most psychologists will try to avoid making the connection with to remain "politically correct" about. It's like these people are channeling their holier than thou existence as they see it and applying their own little personal God to you, in some condescending manner.

Everyone knows what I'm talking about yet many folks will argue against it, sure. More often than not it is an extremely condescending remark and in addition it reflects the condescension of religious theocracy and control.
