Hope you like the one sold on AliExpress
Sensibly-designed controllers are a bit rare nowadays. Too many put the D-pad below an analog stick like the utterly perverse xbox layout.
But, I went to a VR center with a big room so we could move fairly freely. Did 2 games, one was a FarCry game. TBH it was kind of ♥♥♥♥♥. But, the zombie one we did after was extremely fun.
Definately something I will have to do again in the future.
A handshake and a bag of skittles that are two years out of date.
Does your gaming PC have an NVIDIA GPU or AMD GPU? iirc I have heard AMD GPUs paired with a Valve Index have a better linux experience on SteamVR, but I've never tried it so idk.
On NVIDIA ... SteamVR kinda sucks on linux in my experience, and Proton doesn't seem to launch many of my VR games on linux as easily as it does flatscreen games on linux. (This is when I use my Valve Index btw). And some VR games seem to have issues on linux that they don't have on Windows even if you get Proton to launch them successfully.
However, you don't actually even need a PC to play a lot of great VR games because the Quest 3 and Quest 3S are mobile VR headsets. That said, unfortunately Meta headsets are incompatible with linux so you wouldn't be able to play their AAA PC VR games on linux unfortunately.
Personally, as a linux user who likes VR, I'm hoping that the Valve Deckard will be like a Steam Deck with VR capability so that the linux VR experience will improve a lot. If the Deckard is like this... with its own linux OS on board so you have wireless VR, that would be great. Basically like a Valve-brand Quest 3 that runs linux...would be great.
I forgot to mention the skittles are cursed.
