That's when you invest in lead not gold and grow your own food. Sorry but you're in a dystopian scenario based on your description. It's survival at this point. Walmart and McDonald's aren't coming back anytime soon.

P.S. I don't advocate for any violence. I was only answering a hypothetical question. I would like to assume people would work together in real life to solve food crisis issues but unfortunately we all know that probably won't happen.

Sorry to say it, but if the States collapses then so do other countries. Maybe not at first but it will have a domino effect. In some shape or way other countries will feel the pinch, massive amounts of immigration, food, supply shortage. Other countries would only succumb to this chain of events.

To get to that point, the whole world will have to be experiencing a great depression, or worse. I would expect most governments will start a war to keep the economy going, but if the supply system total shuts down, I'd expect anything within 20 days walk of any city will soon be scoured clean by people in the manner locus did when they swarm.

You don't need nationality to live there, and there are plenty of ways to stay indefinitely.
Government website is not going to say you can buy any documents as long as you pay the right person.
