You barely ever see a female character now who’s a bit ditzy, motherly, or just openly feminine without it being ironic or political. Everything’s the same “tough, hyper-competent boss” type, like someone decided every woman in fiction has to act like a Navy SEAL with perfect hair.

What bugs me is that it doesn’t even feel real. People aren’t like that. Used to be that women could be portrayed as stupid, or as liabilities, or as bad people. and it made things feel more alive. Now it’s just one template copied over and over again, and yeah, when you actually see a classical female archetype of the 1900s and the early 2000s, it’s almost a shock. I would like women to have variety from now on, my hopes are not high that this will happen when before I age out of it though.
