We were in Afghanistan when the USSR was trying to take it, arming and training Mujahideen fighters (the original version of Rambo III even contains a credits-reel dedication to "the gallant Mujahideen fighters of Afghanistan"; got scrubbed out of editions put out after 9/11), much of South America, etc.

And nobody. Talked. About. It (at the time).

Trump is so desperate for valor-by-proxy that he cannot stop himself from violating INFOSEC at every turn. Kinda makes sense why he'd appoint a major from the NG who racked up a bunch of SHARP complaints (and had been IDd as an insider threat) who also publicly dry humps the appearance of being "a warrior," while not being able to meet the standards himself to SecDef.

Seeing as Venezuela have admitted that they attacked the US by sending in Tren De Aragua to murder people and take over places, I'd say that the US has a full cassus belli for a full scale war, but the only intention is to remove Maduro and his evil cronies from power. Which can only be supported by the Venezuelans who have suffered under the communist bastard.
