I can't imagine the world today if carthage won... from what little I've read from what Roman soldiers reported when they set foot in Carthage... I shudder at the thought.

It would have carried on and we still would have more or less what we got today maybe a little less invention and ingenuity of the Roman Infrastructure.
But then Carthage was an intelligent people and was very open to other cultures prospering.
While Rome was very much 'our way!'.

-I do know of the sacrifices in saying this but this was not enforced on other cultures.

Ancient World lot more Men liked Men especially Effeminate ones.
If you had to carry your gear - it would be your right to get a peasant to carry it for you (I think).
On top of that you wouldn't necessarily be a fighter either Engineering was much more useful to them. Let the Auxiliaries do that kind of thing.
You get to engineer and keep the 'morale' up.

Of course if they were ambushed...it has its drawbacks.
