I am withdrawing from all forums.
After many years on these forums, I have decided to stop using them.
I have been on Steam for over fifteen years, and for a while I actually enjoyed being part of the discussions. But over time, it became clear that it makes no sense anymore.

Conversations always go the same way: disagreement, pointless arguments, people trying to trigger others just for the thrill of it. Most who comment do not do it out of genuine curiosity or goodwill, but out of ego, boredom, or the need to feel superior.

Yes, that happens everywhere on the internet, not just here. But the overall hostility has gotten worse. Too many ego trips, insecurities, jealousy, obsession. It feels like the online world attracts the worst sides of people.

I am in my early 30s now, and my priorities have shifted. I have lost interest in forums and online interaction in general. It is all background noise, endless chatter that drains energy for no reason. I have spent enough time on that.

Maybe once in a while I will ask a technical question or help someone out with a tech issue, but that is about it. Two comments here and there, nothing more.

Gaming itself I will keep doing, though not nearly as much. Most games today do not hold my attention anyway. When I created this account over fifteen years ago, I was around 13 or 14, a real gaming addict. I would rush home from school, jump into WoW or CoD, and play until midnight or later. Back then it was all about fun, dreams, parties, getting high, gaming through the night at LAN events. For a rebellious teenager, the internet was the perfect escape.

But things change.

This applies to all social media I still have, WhatsApp, Steam, whatever. I cannot be bothered anymore. I do not care about other people’s opinions or arguments. Either you live by action or by words. I choose action. Everyone can do what they want as long as it does not harm me. But wasting time on pointless debates? No thanks.

At some point you stop shouting into the void and realize most people here are still stuck arguing in circles, trying to win imaginary battles. I am just not part of that anymore.

I guess good luck and I hope you manage to break out of this place one day.

Came here to say this
Cya. You'll be better off without them.
You're not wrong, but avoiding conflict won’t help you learn how to listen to others or handle disagreements effectively. In fact, a constructive argument can sometimes strengthen a relationship rather than damage it. Try not to judge people - especially based on their age or by making demeaning comparisons like calling them clowns - and you’re more likely to be treated with the same respect.
k. not reading that.
