Whenever i see someone calling themselves an "professional artist" for generating an AI image I cant help but think

Does he think he's a math prodigy because he used a calculator?
Does he think he's a chef because he ordered food?
Does he think he's a doctor because he bought a stethoscope?
Does he think he's an actor because he screamed when a bug crawled on him?
Does he think he's an architect because he bought a LEGO set?
Does he think he's a tape measure because he measured a doorframe?
Does he think he's a teacher because he bought some chalk?
Does he think he's an explorer because he walked home without a gps app?
Does he think he's a philanthropist because he bought winrar?
Does he think he's a red ring of death because he makes people sad?
Does he think he's a bass guitar because he has a deep voice?
Does he think he's a fan because he blew on his PC when it got hot?
Does he think he's a manager because he told someone what to do?

The answer is: probably

im not faking being a professional idiot, i really am one. i am genuinely, crushingly dumb. a vortex of stupidity spins around my legume sized brain at all times and captures all intelligent thought, from which there is no escape.
i almost got fooled by an AI artist myself, but some things you can't fake.
people have been fake since Elizabeth holmes era

kind of a scary thought, wonder how long until AI is able to perfectly copy already existing art books and it invades that market?
Professional just means (s)he made it their profession (a.k.a. being paid).

Being an artist, imho, is already contentious.
Some get paid millions for "art" whilst others never see a single dime in their lifetime for creating art.

However, what you should actually be asking is: why do you care?

It’s alr here. Authors have used midjourney to copy someone’s art (ie chesley bonestell) and used it as an illustration in their book
