Just went to my local bank branch this morning. And it was open.
bank offices don't excist here anymore at all.. and depisiting or withdrawing cash can only be done by atm machines (of which ever fewer excist too) which charge outrafious fees for that abiloity..
even withdrawing cash in banknotes from an atm comes at cost.. and the fee for having an account has just risen to 4 euro per month.. (while it used to be free to have a bank account)
most things can ONLY be paid by online banking... the goverment does not accept cash... and the time you could deposit cash (with a +10% of total fee) at a bankoffice to pay a wire with cash.. has been disabled for 15 years too..
need to use internetbanking or else no paying any bills..
and may NOT pay your taxes or recieve your wages in cash either.. so ownership of a debet account is mandatory (you can pick which bank yourself but they all charge these outragiious fees while all the services have disapeared..
same with stuff like the national public traffic, ultities etc
they all keep increasing prices while all servcies has been cut away under "digitalisation" but claim price increases are needed "for security"
like the trains were not driving an entire day.. or you cannot pay an entire day cause hackers hacked the network.. did they get into the vault no.. are the trains disabled? no.. but cause without the system the bank cannot process the payments or check whats in your account and has no longer a non networked version of that... .. and keeps all data only in the cloud.. as soon as it gets hacked.. no banking
likewise with trains.. with all information websites and boards linked to a digital system as the locate where trains are.. and railroad signs.. if it is hacked no trains can drive.. while they could just use the old annalog system as was used before... and drive safe trains..
even the medical system.. by having all apointments and patientdata in a digital system with information stored abroad.. if the system get hacked all treatments for the day get cancled... like the actual medical specialists are just twiddling their thumbs cause nobody bothers to keep an annalog or non networked printout.. even mediine are not provided "cannot imput into the system"
heck it's like those mc d employees when you ask a burger without x.. they say "cannot do that system let not imput it... ehh wtf why do you get RULED by the sofware.. why do you let the system enslave you.. when you got a brain and can do the work yourself..
basicly by this networking it has gotten WAY to easy to knock out everything
at the very least there should an annalog backup.. but if securing networked systems get SO expensive.. we should not be networking them at all.. I take the less convenient of not being able to plan my own apointment online or having 24/7 accurate travel information online.. with all delays factored in in real time... aka like how it was in the olden days..
but the cheaper and more reliability of annalog.
aka why keep saying we must invest more in digital security and is nobody considering to do things NOT digital.. reverting to annalog..
that nohody even makes that calculation and the narrarive of "it must be made expensive by more than inflation every year due the rising cost of cybersecurity" is being pushed without question.. is stupid...
I can go to my bank, or any ATM machine, and get cash for free. Any time at the ATM.
Pay some of my bills by check, and the rest with cash in person, depending on how far away the business is. Stores and restaurants will accept cash, checks, credit or debit cards.
Only place I can think of that won't accept cash is one of my doctors' offices.
I do agree that so much info is tied to the internet now, that it would be a major disaster if the internet was disrupted by hackers.
