British actors who can't do American accents well always do the Southern accents.
It's like the most close to them for some reason.

That's quite an observation dear boy.
They also avoid projecting their voice, and vocal fry and mumble half the time, to try and avoid it being noticed by anyone.

Because it is.

The accent in the US south was a deliberate attempt for the wealthy folks back in the 1800's to emulate what they thought were "High Class" Europeans from London/England/Britain at the time.

You can read all about it.

the same way Americans either do overly posh like they rule medieval castles or cockney, apparently there's only two accents in the UK uwu

The southern accent is based on British accents of the time.

"Historical development
-Colonial roots: The Southern accent developed from a variety of accents brought by immigrants from the British Isles, including England and Scotland.

-Influence of 18th-century London speech: In the 18th century, the upper-class speech of London became non-rhotic, and this style was adopted by the elite in Southern port cities. This created a prestigious, aristocratic Southern accent at the time."

tbh, when brits do a yank accent i cannot really tell if it feels "fake" or not. but when yanks do a british accent of any kind it usually sounds phony to me.

What's an American accent, exactly? A southern accent is technically one.

I would say Ohio is the baseline accent. It's plain there's nothing there. We have a bunch of accents but the main ones are Cajun, The North East group(like Boston, Maine accents) Southern accent, Texan and Californian valley. So basically all the states minus Texas,California, Everything above Pennslevania, the Southern states. I don't count Midwestern accent it's a regular one they just want to feel special. Yes I live in a midwestern state you can't fool me

Absolutely not. Everyone out in the Midwest sounds like a Canadian with a plugged up nose.

I was stunned to learn Kelsey Grammer is from USVI and lived in NJ and Fla. Not even British so what’s up with that?

He's got that old school stage actor vibe about him.

Like, he was the kid who quoted Shakespeare at his bullies after being ridiculed for being in the Theater Club.

If you know what I mean.
