Is This Real?
I see in American media sometimes neighbours just causally coming over to borrow something like sugar or tools, is that actually common over there? uwu

Yes, we help each other out where I live. Just a couple of weeks ago our water pump went out and needed repair, and the neighbor offered to let us hook his water hose up to our house for three days. He needed a particular paint roller and I lent it to him, just weeks before that. I even saved his back (and his knees) by offering to cut in the trim paint on his patio so he could just roll. He's like 78.

I wouldn't want to live in a place where it wasn't normal for neighbors to help each other.

well if the "films" have taught me anything and are being accurate...

pizza delivery guys, plumbers, binmen. they all get invited in.

Really though? You went to the neighbour's house to get one cup of sugar?
It has a tendency to happen in any functional area of most functioning countries tbh
Sugar.. not so much. Tools? Yea. My neighbor constantly borrows stuff from me... cuz he knows I have a bunch of things he doesn't. Large push broom, tree trimmer... that kinda thing.

i don't think it happens as much anymore but it depends on where you live. i'm from puerto rico and it's very common here, but i've also lived in the mainland, and there was a neighborhood in florida i lived in where people would do that kind of thing. especially during hurricanes, people would check on each other a lot there

This does happen. I was delivering pizza about twenty years ago and a man invited me into his hotel room, to have fun with him and the woman he revealed (by swinging the door even wider open) was laying in his bed.

I laughed out loud. Nah bro, I'm good. Thanks for the offer though. I'll never forget that. :amadeus_happy:

they come to my door looking for rolling papers and cigarettes a few times a year, a hoarder lady down the hall from me on my floor wanted me to repair her furniture and mop her floor, thank goodness she left (possibly passed away, rumours ), she bothered me several times last year, I live in a mixed adult building, but there mostly seniors here , I live in Canadian government subsidised housing

It's that or drive 20 miles to the store, when you didn't pre-check all your ingredients and you're halfway through making a batch of cookies.
I wish neighbours came over to borrow my tools, but they're all in the various building trades, so it's the other way around lol
isnt this just the universal thing of "just being nice?"

It just seems like such a strange thing to need to borrow from someone.

last time i was nice my neighbour asked me to carry boxes larger than me up to his flat! but it was good exercise, and also he watched my cats when i was in hospital some months ago. but also i like him so i would have done it anyway. :boykisserStare:
