Ergo Proxy
Gurren Lagann
Aria.
Parasyte.
Grand blue.
School rumble.
Rurouni kenshin.
Maybe next year liar game, because manga is great. Dunno if the production will be good though.
- "berserk" is my favourite manga and favourite media of all time, but also the 1997 berserk anime series is amazing. however it only covers a very small portion of the story, so it is more of a bonus. avoid the 2016 series, its garbage. also avoid the golden age films, at least at first. they have some good in them, but they should not be viewed before tasting the sublime of the manga or the 97 series.
- if you like monster i also recommend "homunculus" and "goodnight punpun". they have similar psychological horror themes and aesthetic, and realistic art styles. homunculus has no anime adaption, but it does have a live action film. punpun is strictly manga only.
- "vagabond" is probably my second favourite manga of all time, and the only thing that comes as close as "perfect" to me as berserk. no anime adaption for vagabond, manga only.
- "parasyte" and "i am a hero" are two great horror manga, and the former has had massive inspiration on the genre as a whole. parasyte received a pretty good anime adaption titled "parasyte -the maxim-". its good overall, but makes some changes from the manga i do not like. "i am a hero" does not have an anime adaption, but it does have an extremely fun live action film.
if you liked durarara you will probably also love "baccano", which is made by the same author. there is an anime adaption of baccano that is very enjoyable, but like the "berserk" anime it only covers a very small amount of the story overall. the light novel series for baccano (and durarara) are both very good.
some anime films i recommend:
- akira
- perfect blue
- gyo
- bio hunter
- ninja scroll
- lily CAT
- vampire hunter D: bloodlust
- end of evangelion (requires watching the original series first, it is a finale)
- paprika
- wicked city
Since I am not a weeaboo it's the only anime I have ever watched. Pretty good, all things said.
berserk should be another classic like appleseed or wolfs rain, but I didn't want list too many.
when i first saw the name Vagabond, i thought it was Vinland Saga (which I love very much) but after looking it up, I have never seen it. Thanks for the other suggestions too, I did watch parasyte but I haven't seen baccano or most of your suggestions, much appreciated!
Like how in one piece people can control weather or how the top bad guys are controlled by the gov, or like in hunter hunter having trees that are 25k feet tall. Look at devils tower in wyoming, it is a giant tree stump. I could keep going but you get the gist.
"vagabond" shares a lot of similarities with "vinland saga". if you liked vinland saga, you would assuredly enjoy vagabond.
also unrelated to any of your suggestions, but a recent favourite manga of mine is "dorohedoro". a great dark fantasy action manga. it also received a pretty great anime adaption, which is receiving a season 2 as well.
1. Code Geass

There is a ton more, but that is a good start.
Lycoris Recoil.
This Monster Wants to Eat Me (manga beloved, anime adaptation is currently being released weekly)
NieR Automata
My Dress-Up Darling
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
To Your Eternity (2 Seasons anime, 3rd season currently releasing but its meh)
A Silent Voice (movie)
Josee, the Tiger and the Fish (movie)
Weathering With You (movie)
Your Name (movie)
1. Code Geass, awesome characters, gripping plot, and one of the most memorable stories in anime
2. Nichijou, comedy, maybe the one that made me laugh the most, also v wholesome, safe watch if you wanna feel good, you probably saw some clips of it online
3. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, a little bit of everything, good action, great memes, one of the most interesting power systems and each arc has its own tone
4. Madoka Magica, great fights and awesome aesthetics and animation, with a surprisingly dark story, it's just beautiful all around
5. Takopi's Original Sin, go blind in this one, it's pretty short it came out this year and it's gonna be one of the best
I haven't watched any episodic anime in a very, very long time, I don't even know what's the current big thing.
