ICE shooting of TikToker Richard LA exposes fascism

On the morning of Tuesday, October 21, members of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested TikToker Carlitos Ricardo Parias, better known online as Richard LA, in an attempt to silence his social media coverage exposing ICE raids throughout Los Angeles. In the course of the arrest, ICE agents unleashed a barrage of gunfire, wounding Parias and one of their own.

Only hours later did it emerge that all the gunfire came from ICE itself, fired at a lone, unarmed man whose only “crime” was documenting government repression on social media.

The persecution of Parias is a warning to all that the war that is being waged today against immigrants will be used tomorrow against every one who resists fascism

Federal officials state that after agents boxed in his Toyota Camry, Parias rammed his car into the law enforcement vehicles both in front of and behind him. In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said that agents fired "defensive shots" because they feared for their safety and that of the public. Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli stated that Parias "weaponized his vehicle" and that his aggressive driving, which caused the car's tires to spin and produce large amounts of smoke, led agents to fear he might lose control and hit them.

Parias was shot in the elbow during the incident. A deputy U.S. Marshal was also injured, having been struck in the hand by a ricochet bullet.

Which is more realistic...? They just felt like killing someone? Or is this is another wannabe-martyr trying to be a hero during a police operation?

DHS and prosecutors stated Parias "previously escaped from custody" during a June 13, 2025, traffic stop in Los Angeles, where he was under surveillance for immigration violations.

And he was still blocking the gate. Again, he should have moved when told to.
