Since the 1800s, democratic socialism has been a historic force for equality in the United States:

Economic equality: Secured fair labor standards, 8-hour workday, unions, and safer workplaces.

Social equality: Public education, affordable housing, and universal social services.

Security for all: Shaped the New Deal, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, ensuring dignity beyond wealth or class.

Racial and gender equality: Backed civil rights, women’s rights, and anti-discrimination movements.

Why are the right in the US so against equality when they aren't even mega rich?

Unless you're in the top 5%, you're not experiencing any of the rewards of the Big Beautiful Bill.

The right wing has been sunk forever. That Trump was elected is a sign of that. Poster boy democrat gets elected as a "right wing president". Reagan, poster boy democrat gets elected as a "right wing president". Eisenhower, poster boy democrat gets elected as a "right wing president". Etc. Conservatives never conserve anything because of the way our personalities work combined with the way that left wingers constantly move the frame of acceptable behaviour. We're too busy trying to "behave correctly" that we don't bother maintaining our society.

Trump ignored Musk and pushed through his Big Beautiful Bill which has alienated the working class.

He abandoned and turned his back on his voterbase.

If MAGA Republicans think that socialism and radical left is a huge issue, then why are they doing everything in their power to radicalize the opposing side? It's kind of like a self-created problem.

The political field would be so different without Trumpism. And most of what happens in the Democratic Party (some would say all) is in response to Trumpism.

This is pretty true actually. I do wonder if the Enlightenment era Liberal values the United States was founded on has (perhaps inadvertently) made the political right destined to fail. Behavior is acceptable only if it doesn't violate the principle of equality and political change and radicalism is only acceptable if the change is framed in a way that positions equality as its highest and ultimate good. You can probably begin to piece together why conservatives can't conserve anything and why change has only ever approaches left wing ideals.

When the same person who says justice system is broken pardons violent rioters who assaulted police officers, that is going to trigger people. Part of why people have lost hope in the systems of governance and go extreme with their views is because of MAGA. It did not happen in a vacuum, even though some MAGA folks like to act clueless.
