I always was, When kids at my schools started to smoke cigarettes i was against it.
Lost friends because of it but i don't care.
I'd like to be my conifer, As long as i have a human to take care of me. Sexy plant.
That's basically what I decided over forty years ago. Best decision I ever made.
But is that really being someone else, or something else?
That's one semantic difference that actually matters
i can pretend to be them! "oh uh, hello wife! it is me your husband who you already know the name of, what do you say we engage in normal human behaviour and go do one of our favourite hobbies to do together? what are those again?"
Indeed.
But if you're just something else, you can hop off to the fleshbody supermarket and go get a different body.
Whereas, if you're just someone else, you're stuck with golf...
I also believe that telling a narcissist, "You're an a-hole," is like throwing a match into a gas tank. Any strong emotional reaction from you becomes proof that you are the aggressor and they are the victim. They will use this opportunity to turn others against you. You become the "hater" who picks on the "poor guy," the one who destroys the peace. You will then be forced to justify yourself, doubt your own sanity, and waste energy appeasing the very person who offended you.
Since I don't like to think poorly of anyone, I'll change your advice to: "Be yourself and focus on your own needs".
