This was one of the first truly jank releases that I ever played. It's an awful experience.
easily the worst post team silent SH game, its just a foul project. i have a special hatred for 0rigins as well because of the ways it screws with SH1 lore, but at least it has a few shining bits beneath the torrent of slop, like the music. the music in downpour is just as awful as everything else in downpour.
Any Grand Theft Auto
i dont like it either. the only silent hills i like are the original 4 team silent games, SH shattered memories, and the recent SH2 remake + SH f. and with shattered memories i thinking that it is actually not a great silent hill game, but it IS a good psychological horror video game. so unlike the rest of the western developed silent hills i like it.
homecoming...eh. the gameplay is really, really awful and i hate the combat. i hate how much it borrows from the first silent hill film, and like 0rigins and downpour it wanted so badly to be silent hill 2. the music in homecoming is okay, and i actually sort of like the first half or so of the story.
At least 06 has some really good redeeming qualities despite being a broken mess, this has nothing.
at least we got the surprisingly funny sonic boom cartoon out of that hand bandaged wrapped mess of a game.

Dead by Daylight. The only game I’ve played a significant amount of that I truly hate. I no longer play-I doubt I ever will again.
Other than that…well…the rest of these are just IMHO painfully overrated games (warning, hot takes below-they aren’t exactly bad in the traditional sense of being unplayable/miserable to play more often than not-DBD 110% IS, but moreso have all been overhyped in one way or another to the point I feel they’re worth listing):
1) Until Dawn (the original-mostly because getting the Platinum is brutal. Not in difficulty, but in sheer time-wasting and QTE/motion sensor BS). The story isn’t bad, but also isn’t good enough to hold up to so many repeated playthroughs. Needless to say, I didn’t buy the remake.
2)Kingdom Hearts (played it originally on PS2-loved Disney-didn’t, and still don’t know much about FF (see more about that below) but my God, the “low health” sound is one of the most annoying in-game sounds I’ve heard in my life. Frustrating combat. Mediocre and pretentious story. Everything about the Gummi ship was just…bad. Gave it another chance (and two more playthroughs on PS4) for a platinum. I never want to play that game again. But at least in the PS4 version I could skip cutscenes. Idk if I’ll bother playing any of the sequels though I’ve heard at least some of my pain points with the original are addressed in them since my opinion of Disney has significantly soured since that second and third playthrough of the original.
3)Final Fantasy X (I made the horrific mistake years ago of playing this on PS2 shortly after completing the original Shadow Hearts-to this day my favorite JRPG of all time). The graphics of FFX are inarguably better. The soundtrack is very different but great. Everything else was a disappointing downgrade. The characters were largely bland stereotypes, the story was cliché, the minigames (mostly thinking about Blitzball) were tedious, the turn-based combat was too basic, some of the English voice acting was awful (The same is true of the English VA in Shadow Hearts, but on the upside, you only hear it a handful of times, if that) 99.9% of SH’s story is text-and I believe the minimal turn-based battle VA is in the original Japanese. Perhaps I should give FFX another chance with Japanese VA-or given my experience with revisiting Kingdom Hearts, perhaps I shouldn’t. First (and currently, last) Final Fantasy game I’ve played all the way through. FFX-2 looks better tbh, but lots of people say it’s awful so…meh. Not sure if I’ll bother with more Final Fantasy unless I get into the MMO someday (one of my best friends loves it).
4)Tomb Raider (2013): Though I will likely force myself to replay this game on Steam (I got a free key with a graphics card or something ages ago-but played it originally on PS3) and the rest of the reboot trilogy due to just loving the series as a whole and Lara Croft as a character that much: I really, REALLY, have a bone to pick with whoever had the idea to turn Tomb Raider from a game about…well….raiding tombs and puzzles and platforming challenges with minimal combat to a generic third person cover shooter with hordes of near-identical enemies to kill. Plus, minimal, optional, and far too easy tombs. Little in the way of platforming challenges. But here-have another generic wave of human NPCs to shoot at! Bleh. I get it was an origin story-that’s fine. They could’ve still done an origin story for Lara without making the core TR gameplay nearly unrecognizable.
5) Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. This is a franchise incredibly near and dear to my heart-and you can BET I WILL be buying and playing the remake when it releases (never got my hands on it when it was on the Wii), but: although it’s a very good game-I too often see it listed as the “best in the franchise” or “the one Fatal Frame game you MUST play as a survival horror fan” and I strongly disagree. The original FF (despite the bad English VA work) and Fatal Frame IV are my preferences depending on what sort of mood I’m in (The original has more classic survival horror vibes with fixed camera angles and occasionally punishing difficulty spikes, Fatal Frame IV has a more modern camera and isn’t quite as difficult-also having an easy difficulty that the first game lacked-but still packs plenty of horror. I haven’t completed FFV due to personal issues but of the first four mainline games, I personally think II is the weakest.
