The new police system is designed to be more realistic and less formulaic than in previous GTA titles.
Smarter tactics: Law enforcement officers will no longer fire indiscriminately. Instead, they will use more sophisticated tactics, including setting up perimeters, coordinating ambushes, and using K-9 units, riot shields, and tear gas.
Variable response times: The arrival of police is now delayed, with a "time until cops dispatched" meter appearing after a crime is committed. Their response is tiered, based on the severity and location of the crime.
Enhanced recognition: Police AI is expected to remember your appearance, vehicle, and license plate. You may need to change your clothes or your car to successfully lose a pursuit.
Witness reporting: The new "witness system" means civilian NPCs can report crimes to the police, adding a new layer of strategy to evading law enforcement.
Surrender option: Gameplay footage suggests you may have the option to surrender to police, who will prioritize capture over lethal force in minor chases.
Vehicle tracking: Vehicles will be identified, allowing police to track specific cars involved in crimes.
Lifelike and interactive NPC behavior
The NPCs in GTA 6 are intended to be more than simple, scripted background characters. They will have routines, memories, and dynamic personalities.
Adapting to the world: NPCs will react to real-time events, such as a player committing a crime or environmental changes like rain.
Personalized interactions: Their behavior will be influenced by past events. For instance, an NPC who witnesses you committing a crime might recognize you later and respond differently.
Daily routines and memories: NPCs will have rich daily routines and mood states, making the world feel more alive and reactive. Some NPCs may even record events on their phones.
NPC-on-NPC crime: There is speculation that the AI may also allow for dynamic, unscripted crimes committed by NPCs that police will respond to, further immersing the player in a functioning society.
There will be revolutionary changes that set this game apart from all other old GTA series. The Take-two is making this game more realistic as possible.
Personally, I like GTA 4 way way more than San Andreas, so I prefer a greater emphasis on realism.
I'm hoping their next game is more like GTA 4 and Vice City, less like San Andreas.
That all sounds really good, probably one of the main areas I'd say could use improvement in GTA5.
