Xenobot (Artificial life). Scientists play dangerous games.
Xenobots, named after the clawed frog, are synthetic lifeforms that are designed by computers to perform some desired function and built by combining together different biological tissues.

Xenobots built to date have been less than 1 millimeter.

Xenobots have been designed to walk, swim, push pellets, carry payloads, and work together in a swarm to aggregate debris scattered along the surface of their dish into neat piles. They can survive for weeks without food and heal themselves after lacerations.

Xenobots can also self-replicate. Xenobots can gather loose cells in their environment, forming them into new xenobots with the same capability.

Do they transform and roll out or do they burst from chests?

So this is how they are going to develop Super AI, fascinating. I knew about the bee's but not these things, tiny blobs of pink flesh that live up to 10 days but can indeed self-replicate to an extent. Probably will attempt surrogate motherhood with these things in some way.

Their only weakness is forced Windows updates.
