"You serve at the President's pleasure"
What the hell does that even mean? Is it written somewhere?

Sounds a lot like you service Trump and pleasure him in the oval office.

Not that most of you would mind that. I know you all love 45-47.

It means that the President has sole authority to hire and fire a person in that role.
Yes, it's written down in some law, either the constitution or a law made by congress.

It isn't written in a law I could find. Just a common saying in dismissal letters or from loyalists.

It is a little more than a common saying, even if it is not technically writ in the U.S. Code somewhere, it is "reality" which may well be confirmed by James Madison's writings in the Federalist Papers.

Our government is organized around three branches, a division of power so that the entire government is not serving at the President's pleasure. There are checks and balances, but the Executive branch does contain notions of serving at the President's pleasure.

However, knowing this we are to choose moral and wise leadership. If that leadership proves corrupt, then we are to vote at elections to put in place a more capable and less corrupt leader. The President serves at the constituents pleasure.

Except when Congress refuses to remove the president despite any agreement on corruption.

Wait. Are people still complaining that the President gets to pick is own Cabinet?

Fun Fact: President of the United States of America is the Executive Branch. Everyone that works under the Executive Branch is working at the pleasure of the President.

A lot of foreigners can't seem to understand that.
