Do You Enjoy MOBA's?
This is a genre I tried out and enjoyed, but it's ultimately not for me.

My main issue with MOBA's is that they don't really excel in anything or demand a high skill ceiling. There's RPG elements in them, but they're not that deep; if your lane has an opponent that primarily uses magic, buy magic armor. If you want to focus on quick, individual ganks over teamfighting, buy stuff that increases your mobility and so on. It's just common sense to me, personally. There's also resource management, spacing, flanking and teamwork, but those are in most games and in greater scale. If you play a fighting game, positioning and spacing will be on your mind constantly and any FPS game will demand environmental awareness, map control and coordination with your team. There's also strategy involved, but nothing close to RTS games that will require you to multitask at a high level and develop solutions on the fly in much greater detail.

So, MOBA games have a little bit of everything, but do nothing particularly well, imo. They have elements you can find in other competitive genres, but with nowhere near the demand in mechanical skill or strategic depth. I suppose you could offer that the game is more than the sum of its parts and you're definitely not wrong; if you enjoy MOBA's, I'm glad that you do and I'm not against it. It's just they're too casual for me and don't push me enough as a competitive exercise.

Note: I have not played Deadlock, yet.

I enjoyed playing ARAM in League, but that's as far as I'd go.

You mean you figured that out by thinking or you are actually playing with e-sports stars in challenger division?

Not anymore.
Once my friend grow up and move on with their lives, I don't have a team for 5 player games.

And playing with stranger is just not enjoyable.

In theory I do. In practice they're garbage due to garbage unfun metas, toxic players, easily abused report systems, etc.

imo, moba comes from old school rts games, and rts games are heavy on control and management,
maybe I shouldn't be talking about how many inputs per minute for professionals in this topic,
in short, it really puts normal players to shame seeing how professionals play rts games,

they are talking about moba games, which is a bit less on control and input, so, its a portion of rts games, not a big thrill for me.
Nope, not in the slightest. I like some of the characters and lore though.

As a “Master 2” League of Legends Player since season 11 (I retired) I’m surprised I didn’t age in dog years. I main Top Lane playing Bruisers and Second Mid Lane as an Off-Tank. I still play but only casually now.

Is that even possible anymore outside of Aram?

Seriously, I've watched my friend stream every time he'd start from scratch to smurf, not even his teammates were being casual, it was tryharding galore.

One of the things that would drive me crazy in some matches would be how fragile some people are. A few deaths and they would quit. Team is losing, so they just go idle. This happens across all games, but the genre has one of the more frustrating playerbases I've seen. On the flipside, getting a comeback win is an amazing feeling and it feels like an uphill climb up a mountain. It's also really satisfying when you deftly coordinate with a teammate(s) to get a kill or save a death.

Since you're such an experienced player, would you say my assessment of the genre is fair or is there something you disagree with or feel I overlooked?

LoL was one of my lesser played MOBA's, so I definitely wasn't in Challenger, nor much ranked at all. I spent more time with Predecessor and a little Smite. I found League to be the most boring and the third person MOBA's to be more interesting because of the camera angle and corresponding increase in mechanical skill and positioning dynamics.
No they are not fun

There's a ton of interesting ones but I consider them nothing but a waste of time.

Only with pre made teams
