why japan media industry depends so much on fanservice?
Once thing I have seen that Japanese media industry depends a lot more on fanservices like porns, waifus, harems, lolis, and anything you can think of compared to the western ones. Why is that?

Their country, their rules.

Because Japanese people are direct with how they express themselves. They know sex sells, so why be coy about it?

They know their customers.

Instead of trying to force their ideals like the west, they know what people want and give it to them.
Have you ever watched a hollywood movie? Go watch the men....then talk about fanservice in japan.

yes, the horse demon in berserk is indeed a sex symbol. japan was wise to create that sickening beast, knowing all too well what the otaku crave.

Because that's what their audiences want.

There is a reason that Western made games and entertainment are the butt of ridicule over the last decade. Especially the comic book and games industries.
Japanese society is very demanding and conformist, with high standards of behavior and work ethic. Discipline, diligence, and the pursuit of excellence are valued in Japan. Workers often stay overtime to avoid letting down their team. Media saturated with fan service offers an escape from social pressure and an outlet for fantasies suppressed by social norms. There's a clear line between reality and fantasy. Enjoying games or anime with high levels of violence or other extreme themes doesn't mean you want to act them out in real life.

Only a minority of Japanese watch those cartoons.

It's cultural. Them don't see nude as sensitive but touching people the opposite.

You're not wrong but there's another subject you're forgetting. Incultativity. Not only is japanese society wildly confirmist, they are demand silence in that conformity. You don't talk about work with anyone outside of work, friends outside that friend group, family outside family, etc. And in public, you're seen as a burden if you speak out and depend on others verbally, especially strangers. And in a society where visual reputation and presentation define status, being seen venting to others about work or home struggles is unwise.

Now lets add in dating, because Japan also doesnt have dating as we in the west know it. Ever seen those big confessions in anime where the confessor, usually the man, treat it like some heavy deep proposal? because it is in Japan. When you combine this lack of intimacy with the pressures above, you end up with a very repressed group that, due to not being able to talk about their limits and pleasures, can get into some dark cascades, especially woman.

Now mind you thats hentai. Generic fanservice is just a fun appreciation of human beauty.

I don't have the data to make this any more than a vibe I get, but it seems to me that people in Japan don't jump from "I like looking at this person" to "I want to hop into bed with them" quite as quickly as westerners do.

Because they allow it to happen...
Because there's not as many idiots in Japan whining that a swimsuit is hardcore pornography that should be banned.

I mean, seriously, wtf is up with that nonsense?

Displicine is valued? Ah is this why Japan has so many "asaults"? That sounds sooo disciplined...

Pursuit of excellance? Ah, is this why Japan justice is just lame joke?

And the reason workers stay overtime is just to not look bad (basically social pressure to its maximum...), not to "avoid letting down their team", they do not care about the team, they just want to look good on the rest, that country really punishes people being unique...

Even though on the west this problem still exist with old people which cannot accept that young people these days value more their free time comparing to people on the past...

Japan is just toxic, but they try to make their country look like as if everything is fine (save face you guys call it in your language v:)

Mental illness and projection.

Nine times out of ten the people who complain about anime have CSAM on their phones and a laundry list of victims. Just like how the evangelists who insist upon banning pornography are always the ones caught doing weird sex ♥♥♥♥ and often times with children or while under the influence of hard drugs.

The tenth time it's just some fool who was propagandized to and thus needs to be deprogrammed. Provided they're not too far-gone and thus in need of an asylum.
