Ahh well, can't please everyone, I guess.

Considering that the mexican government claim to have been fighting the cartels for longer than I have been alive I wonder if they'll welcome any intervention from the US. At the same time without glassing areas with nukes I can't see how the US will do anything meaningful, the cartels will just go guerrilla and the US historically is bad at fighting that kind of war.
