Yo OT, share your most badass Thanksgiving tips
White meat is not supposed to be dry. It comes out of the oven this way because of an extremely common baking mistake: baking the bird whole.

The white meat and the dark meat have to reach different temperatures, so in order to not kill people, the typical solution is to overcook the white meat.

But there's a better solution: separate the two before baking! Now you can remove each separately when they reach the proper temperature!

When smoking a turkey use apple juice to keep the bird moist. Use Peanut Oil if your going to deep fry it, to reduce the smoke since it has a higher temperature before it starts to smoke.

Don't use a baking bag, just an open baking dish and after the turkey is cooked turn the "juices" into gravy with gravy powder.

Enjoy.

The story that's taught to schoolkids is how the Pilgrims fled England seeking religious freedom, settled in Massachusetts and nearly starved before the local Wampanoag people took pity on them and taught how to farm in this new environment, and they held a feast to celebrate friendship between the two peoples.

Of course, things were quite a bit more complicated. To say the English Puritains were innocently seeking religious freedom glosses over how they were chased out of the Dutch Republic for being too religeously intolerant to everyone else and making a nuisance of themselves. And the peace with the Wampanoag didn't last long.

Abraham Lincoln declared the last Thursday of November an official day of Thanksgiving in 1863 to boost morale during the war of southern treason, and the myths about the Plymouth settlers has been spread since.

I eat when football is on. Gives me a reason to keep my mouth shut during the game as far as speaking goes.

I only eat turkey, pork and beans, and mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving now. No more of all those messy pans.

Cherry pie with Whipped Cream(TM) is a must as well.
Periodically basting with melted butter and rosemary has always worked for my family to prevent it from drying out.

And laughing at the idiots who try to deep fry their turkey and forget that ice crystals don't like hot oil, and that fluid displacement is a thing is also a family tradition.

Much like 4th of July fireworks, fire departments routinely put on cautionary demonstrations.

Cook your stuffing inside the turkey and mix it with dressing prepared outside of the turkey. Stuffing cooked inside the bird absorbs the juices from the turkey which gives it an amazing flavor. My grandmother used to cook the giblets from the turkey on the side, finely chop them and then add them to the stuffing.

I have never become ill from eating stuffing cooked inside a turkey. If you're concerned about it, just heat the stuffing before putting it inside the turkey, and then immediately place the stuffed turkey into your preheated oven.

Stuffing smothered in homemade gravy made with pan drippings (melted butter, basting broth and natural turkey juices) has always been my favorite part of our Thanksgiving dinner.

Add to that a couple more delicious side dishes:

anyone else like cranberry sauce? im literally the only person in my whole family who loves that stuff lmao. which is fine, means more for me :steamhappy:

oh and cooking tip: to the people who hate brussels sprouts, the reason you hate them might be because youve only had overdone sprouts. overcooking them is what makes them bitter and nasty. frying is arguably the best method to cook brussels sprouts without the risk of making them bitter.
