*Actually, now that I'm rereading your post, OP, I don't fully understand your complaint. I don't know what politicians are faking being gamers has anything to with achievements, but maybe I'm missing something, idk.
It's microtransactions, mostly the P2W and gambling kind that are cancers within gaming. Some microtransactions like soundtracks aren't so predatory I guess. If you want to count soundtracks as a microtransaction.
It's not all the 'gamers' fault but we are partly to blame. Indirectly 'gamers' gave them power through our spending habits, the hype cycles, and low standards. The system is built to exploit convenience and you get what you pay for!
It must be fun to play a game where your decisions on what you do in the game is enforced by political powers to control exactly what you do.
That's the political control over your decisions.
We are all different.. I also think achievements are pointless in gaming, but on the other hand I accept many like instant glorification and to get a pad on the head after doing something.
