Only games I can name at the top of my head on these consoles are super smash bros, ninja gaiden, and contra.
There are a lot of different ages here and people can still play those things online too.
It is bit retro or vintage or whatever the word is to most my gaming threads.
Latest console I owned was PS3 and if they released it again I'd buy it again as long as it came with loads of games installed.

Fatal Run
Missile Command
Star Strike

*I actually hate these games, but I really think I've not played a lot of games for these systems, lol
**I've actually played a lot of games for this, but they're almost all from the same four series, so I'm counting this
Sonic 3
Super Hydlide
Rings of Power
Bio-hazard Battle
Phantasy Star IV
Mastersystem:
Wonderboy III: The Dragon's Trap
Sonic Chaos
Shinobi
Bubble Bobble
Ghouls 'N Ghosts
NES:
Castlevania
Duck Hunt
Final Fantasy
Super Mario Bros
SNES:
Breath of Fire II
Final Fantasy VI
James Pond 3: Operation Starfish
Legend of Zelda: A link to the past
Secret of Evermore
Basically the five games from each system that came to mind.
As for system: Megadrive for arcade base games, SNES for RPGs
Missile Command, I love that game in so many forms.
Super Marios Bros - naturally a good choice.
Double Dragon - the enemies were so different compared to the arcade eventually i preferred the nes to the arcade version.
No Starfox or Street Fighter 2 for the Snes?
I cannot believe I forgot Streets of Rage. That was like going to school everyday for some of us.
(ok I'll forget the 8 to 16 bit limitation)
N64 and no mention of the legendary Goldeneye?!!
There was Turok I liked too.
Ps1 MEtal gear solid, that was a very good game. The Ending has an impact.
In reality of our world that seemed intent of super big weapons nukes etc playing Metal Gear Solid was nice that it felt there were other people out there who were against these things.
FF8 - after playing FF7 My reaction : How close to reality are these graphics! amazing!
There's games on the megadrive i had not heard of!
Sonic is a classic I should have put that in my list too.
Shinobi - that made me feel cool just for playing it.
Suer Mario Bros = Best.
Duck hunt and any light gun games I was just awesome.
Castlevania had a really good dark atmosphere to it.
Good point for arcade vs RPG machines.
Would like to know if anybody feels same or different to that.
Anyway, nah, I never played Star Fox and I kinda hate 2D fighters. I'm not crazy about 3D ones either but they at least understand that easy mode is supposed to be easy, and not just easy if you're good at it.
Goldeneye, also never played.
Games Master was that famous astronomer bloke called Sir Patrick Moore famous for his monocle.
For us Games Master was THE SHOW.

Goleneye on N64 was a good game, first person shooter and do missions. I Mainly just went on a rampage as often as I could against the infinite amount of enemies.
There is a remake too so that is on tomorrow's list. I doubt it could be as good as the original.
... They remade it, wow, I agree I doubt it will live up to much, a lot of games these days aren't exactly couch co-op, plus with the amount of folk who stream their play-through of games as well.
Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles (I'm listing these as one)
Revenge of Shinobi
Streets of Rage
Castle of Illusion
Robocop vs the Terminator (this game is HARD)
Ecco the Dolphin can sod right off.
