Bran Castle wallpaper showed up on my screen today.
It isn't the full view, but what seems to be from the bottom of the stairs looking up towards the entrance of the castle.

What is interesting to me, is there is some old writing on the wall above the entrance, which hasn't been maintained. So the writing is very faded. I tried to find information about what it says... nada.

Most of the searches i've made come up with general history of the castle and/or regarding its connect to Dracula. So i am a bit flustered, are search engines getting worse, cuz I'm starting to see pattern, where search engine results are too uniform, and generally don't answer and/or cannot point to to the thing that i was looking for. Or is it I am the only one who is curious about old writings and what is written there?

update: ok so i found a site with the exact photo, however, i still still don't know what the old writing says or how to find more info about it.

Post the photo you found and I'll translate that writing. It is most likely romanian language, but in Cyrillic letters, or the old church letter format

Oh, thank you for noticing my post.

So this is the best photo i can find, but it's still hard to see, not only because of the photo, but because the writing hasn't been maintained and is starting to fade.

edit: oops. here's the close up link

This is what the AI is telling me (It took about five different attempts to get the AI to even admit there was writing on the wall. Writing that I could clearly see. Very odd behavior.) There is an inscription in ancient German at the entrance to Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle), but it is a poem with a moral message, not a formal oath that guards would recite.
The inscription is roughly translated as:
"When the bird has created a nest and brought his eggs into it, he doesn't fly away in fear. He doesn't let someone else sit in his nest and on his eggs – he lets himself be strangled while sitting on it."
This poem conveys a message of courage, territorial defense, and an unwavering commitment to protecting one's home and family, even at the cost of one's own life. While the sentiment is applicable to a guard's duty, it is presented as a general moral inscription rather than a specific, formal military oath.
The major search engines are too compromised now with sponsored results and ads. Google in particular stinks compared to back in the day!

That said, thanks for sharing! I love castles, the Bran Castle especially!

Yeah, i have tried using AI myself, seems too glitch easily. Also, it can be over eager on oversharing, blowing right past the specific thing you are interested in, at least that has been my experience. a wierd combination

Thank you for looking up the info.
