AW YEAH. That's the stuff.
Thank you for recommendation. That's whole new playlist for me.
Thelonious Monk - Have a listen to Monk’s Dream. Great album.
John Coltrane - Have a listen to Giant Steps.
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue is a good place to start. But you should listen to everything that Miles and Coltrane put out.
Duke Ellington - Money Jungle. Killer trio album with Max Roach and Charlie Mingus.
Seem like Miles and Duke are the only two I can think is good.
John and Monk, I can't quite ...understand.

good jazz pianist
I understand you when you say that you can't quite understand certain jazz artists. I don't either. it's all very abstract, and not really what I would call music. To me, it's like they're just hitting random notes, especially during solos.
Bass solos to me are the most incomprehensible.
I'm attempting to be a jazz drummer, so I've been trying to listen to a lot of it, to learn from the greats.

That's good motivation. You'd go far in your career.
And right, some jazz, my ears can't seem to adapt to it.
I'm thinking of it like durians. Some love that, and some won't feel the same way.
Wow!! Sound sexy somehow
