what monks?

First you need to enter the ninja academy at Konaha, the Village Hidden in the Leafs. The academy might take a few months to a few years depending on how fast you learn. Once you graduate you will become a Genin. A low rank ninja.

Once you become a Genin you will be assigned to a Jonin master. Jonins are elite ninjas with years of experience. You are basically their padawan. They will train and teach you more about becoming a ninja. After you gain even more experience you can participate in the Chunin Exams. It’s a written and practical test where you need to prove your book smarts and real combat skills. Train and study hard because the Chunin exams only happen once every 6 months. Once you become a Chunin you’re officially a “mid class ninja”.

To become a Jonin, an elite ninja, there is no test or exam you have to take to become one. You have to be recommended to become one. Either by other ninjas or the Hokage (whom is the strongest ninja in the village). Once you become a Jonin you will be officially an elite ninja and can take on students of your own, passing on your knowledge and skill to the next generation.

Where are the Leafs that hide the Village? All that sounds so complicated :( I just wanna throw ninja stars, and run over rooftops like in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. But with an official Ninja license.
