You should try playing something that isn't mainstream.

Never thought about going back to Nintendo but late Switch has actually been fun. Tears of the Kingdom (play Breath of the Wild first), Metroid Dread/Prime remastered and Advance Wars have all been pretty decent. Pokemon legends was poorly optimised, pretty bad graphics but its the most fun since Gold and Silver generation.

PC has been shoddy because most AAA have all been garbage. Woke mob from Hollywood infesting games with agenda driven based story line. Or just bad gameplay overall. eg:

Borderlands 3: Good gameplay, crap story line.
Doom Eternal: ADHD swapping weapons every half millisecond. Didn't need story line.
Pacer/Redout 2: No support/Bad gameplay
Cyberpunk: Where to start. But its supposedly decent now.

etc.

Just play Rimworld with mods.

The only real good "modern" game I can think of is "Unconnected Marketeers", and even this one requires specific amount of knowledge to properly enjoy it, as it's the STG/Shoot em up

Gaming lost it's appeal for me once they began doing everything we were waiting for. It became a been there done that thing. The graphics are so great now they're no longer an issue. But they're doing what they have been doing for the past 20 to 25 years, hasn't been HUGE leaps in gaming like the 90's thru maybe 2010. Been SO much of a rehash, the graphics have been too good for better to matter therefore graphics have not been selling games for ten maybe fifteen years. Graphics became "trivial" over a decade ago. Same for sound and processing rates.

Yeah aint nothing hitting, the Tiny Tina stand alone game was just weird and I said "I want my $16 back"

I'm tired of games that try to make political statements.

Sounds like a you problem. There are so many good games I don't have time to play them all.

If you only play f2p and fps of course gaming is going to suck for you

Western AAA gaming is in a bad spot, but this lull has given me a chance to go back and play many franchises from the 2000s that I never got into. Not only are those games dirt cheap, they perform really well and are so much better from a gameplay and writing perspective than much of the current garbage.

We're at a point now where there is so much quality historical content that you can go years without buying a modern game and be perfectly fine.
