nothing described exists, but i do want to know where the danger is
You can sleep soundly knowing we are out there rounding up all the fans.

The Kyoani arsonist wasn't a fan. Just a lunatic who felt they stole his work.

Yeah, I just read it in the article. People are so insane anymore.
For example, i grew up thinking the Crusades was a greedy and ambitious attempt of religious people to go looting into Jerusalem.
In actuality, Islamic people of the Arab Peninsula, were making incursion after incursion and conquering, and pillaging peaceful Christian nations, for three hundred years before the first Crusade even happened. They got as far as modern Spain. This is why we know the period as the Dark Ages, because trade and relations and news and information between countries in Europe and the outside world became next to impossible, because land and water routes were were not safe to travel.
Since Jesus taught for people to bless and pray for their enemy, that's what the Christian people did. Until, i think it was a king of the Franks, sent a letter to the Pope of that time, asking for help to unite the people and defend against the Arab attacks. Finally, when the Pope decreed and made assurances that people should go and retake jerusalem, did people take up arms against the Arabs.
People, myself included think the Crusades were unprovoked. Actually, they were very much provoked.
Of course, the pendulum swung the other way and things got bloody and messy, and the was a power struggle eventually between a Pope and some king. Anyway, the human condition prevailed and the thing did become a nightmare.
So if it wasn't for the Crusades, Europe would be speaking some dialect of Arabic today.
And this is just an example of influence the entertainment industry has, there's quite a bit more that affects people's hearts and minds and not necessarily in a positive way.
The most egregious example is the for profit news media, which is 100% entertainment.
