What is the worst way to die?
It's October, so 'tis the season to revisit the mother of all morbid questions.

I'd have to say acute radiation sickness. In the 10-20 Gy range, your odds of survival are essentially zero, yet it can take over a week (up to 83 days, in one famous case) for you to finally expire. In the meantime, your skin, bones and mucosal tissue turn into ulcerated, rotting sludge, while your nervous system remains cruelly intact.

Being burned alive comes to mind. It's certainly one of the most painful ways to go. But the worst way to die? That'd be whatever is the worst way to die for you - hopefully it doesn't go that way.

Of course, that doesn't apply to those who were boiled or roasted alive (as in a brazen bull).

That's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up one. I think it was especially common in the Bronze and early Iron Age.
