The alpha gen has no money.
It is not what you think is happening.
This live service microtransaction bull'sh'it isn't how it's supposed to be.
Why are new games made?
For new generations.
The old generation plays old generation games.
Gen Z are all almost legally adults. The youngest of this generation would be like 17, maybe.
Sounds like you're talking about the older Gen Z and younger Millennial generation crossover group. People who are like 25 to 35.
It's a age thing.
People will always want to buy things that remind them of their childhood/teenagehood.
I'm probably going to pay $300+ for one. And I'm GenX.
They got dumped in front of screens and got little love.
They grew up after the plague of social media obliterated humanity.
They grew up in a world in which due to social media everyone is the same old same old follower.
Showbiz has been boring for decades. "Singers" and "musicians" at best now are dancers who have the robots write and sing the songs and then they might gyrate and posture on stage to a record and do bad lip-synchs.
Hollywood has been out of ideas for decades. It's just one CG slopfest sequel after another.
Part of the reason why they went woke woke woke is things were so boring that they had to try to stir things up and get people to argue argue argue.
They had nothing else to offer.
This is why people people right now are paying sky high concert tickets for people who were stars 50-60 years ago who clearly haven't had hits in ages and can't play or sing. They now just stand in front of the record and maybe if we are lucky there are 1 or 2 original members they can prop up there.
They are just looking for anything that was once alive a long time ago.
sprinkle in a bit of baby boomer and gen aplha...

as recently companies are greedy in many ways, political, hateful, rehashing the same poorly coded and unoptimized games, some even declaring themselves AAAA, then selling off to stay afloat, or going under, cause gamers closed their wallets.
in general, lots of those older games were simply just better, didnt have bloat, no bs changes for "modern agendas", etc..
in the end, the AAA portion of the industry has not only lost the plot, but lost touch with reality, while indies are thriving and growing, because most do the exact opposite, of the AAA industry.
as for "nostalgia", i dont really think that term is all people push it to be, i dont think its "nostalgic" to play the better crops of games, instead of this "modern" crap we are being fed, for outrageous prices.
edit: speaking of "nostalgia".
