You think gen z or older gen are more nostalgic?
you see why companies are stepping into catering nostalgia in recent years because it seems they have a target demographic for that. Which causes this? gen z or older generation?

I feel like there are tons of books and contents that they can adapt yet still choosing to do the same thing over again

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

They're run our of ideas since it is not what is going on.

The alpha gen has no money.

It is not what you think is happening.

Gen Z and the younger generations don't know what actual gaming is.

This live service microtransaction bull'sh'it isn't how it's supposed to be.

Gen Z can't have nostalgia because they haven't had anything good to remember fondly. It's their own fault, but still.

This isn't about gen alpha. They are little kids at best now. I'm talking about the 90s to early 2000s born age group honestly. These remakes hit hard into their childhood nostalgia actually

Why are new games made?

For new generations.

The old generation plays old generation games.

The alpha gen has no money and the companies have no money to invest on the alpha gen.

Gen alpha are in their mid teens now. The oldest of that generation would be like 14 to 16.

Gen Z are all almost legally adults. The youngest of this generation would be like 17, maybe.

Sounds like you're talking about the older Gen Z and younger Millennial generation crossover group. People who are like 25 to 35.

X is forgotten......and many do....i was in the gas station the other day and they were talking about how better the 80's were better...... i had to remind them they were kids and people protecting them did not let them see the real world.....

Lol, its not a certain generation who does it.

It's a age thing.

People will always want to buy things that remind them of their childhood/teenagehood.

It is obvious that they want to target the 90s born millennials/genz in recent years though. They have grown up and that might be their last chance to squeeze out the money from them before they change their life goals and busy with family

A group bought the Commodore IP and are releasing a Commodore PC.

I'm probably going to pay $300+ for one. And I'm GenX.

Some of us play retro games. I've lately been playing a lot of PS1 games and it's made me believe that game development is becoming a lost art like how the pyramids were built. And I think the technology progressed too fast for developers to learn it. I think the solution for this should be to still be developing games in the more retro styles that are examples of very well made games while learning the new stuff until they are able to develop modern games at the level of quality of old games.

The more that I think about it, the more I feel sorry for gen Z.

They got dumped in front of screens and got little love.

They grew up after the plague of social media obliterated humanity.

They grew up in a world in which due to social media everyone is the same old same old follower.

Showbiz has been boring for decades. "Singers" and "musicians" at best now are dancers who have the robots write and sing the songs and then they might gyrate and posture on stage to a record and do bad lip-synchs.

Hollywood has been out of ideas for decades. It's just one CG slopfest sequel after another.

Part of the reason why they went woke woke woke is things were so boring that they had to try to stir things up and get people to argue argue argue.

They had nothing else to offer.

This is why people people right now are paying sky high concert tickets for people who were stars 50-60 years ago who clearly haven't had hits in ages and can't play or sing. They now just stand in front of the record and maybe if we are lucky there are 1 or 2 original members they can prop up there.

They are just looking for anything that was once alive a long time ago.

gen x and millennials are the majority of gamers, most of gen z, is just following suit, of actual good games (or mobile games), because they see the "modern" slop, for what it is.

sprinkle in a bit of baby boomer and gen aplha...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lE94gPi_UqI

as recently companies are greedy in many ways, political, hateful, rehashing the same poorly coded and unoptimized games, some even declaring themselves AAAA, then selling off to stay afloat, or going under, cause gamers closed their wallets.

in general, lots of those older games were simply just better, didnt have bloat, no bs changes for "modern agendas", etc..

in the end, the AAA portion of the industry has not only lost the plot, but lost touch with reality, while indies are thriving and growing, because most do the exact opposite, of the AAA industry.

as for "nostalgia", i dont really think that term is all people push it to be, i dont think its "nostalgic" to play the better crops of games, instead of this "modern" crap we are being fed, for outrageous prices.

edit: speaking of "nostalgia".

anywho, have fun and a nice day
