Tbh, I actually do not think the Mandela effect exists. For the most part, I see it as the brain filling in bits that it didn’t find important to remember, or that you were trained to believe from a young age. It’s easy to state: “I could have sworn I saw that thing- Dave thinks he saw it too and Kyle sort of remembers that.” There also are cases were things actually did change or were removed, but they are less common.

For me, what breaks the effect is my experience with the Berenstain Bears which is commonly pointed at. Everyone claims it was spelled differently in the past. It was not. I know this because I remember a book fair in my youth with my mom, when I was still learning to read and read phonetically, I pointed them out and said “Look mom, they have Bear-in-stain Bears.” I was corrected that was pronounce “stein”.

My claim of my memory I suppose holds no more validity than anyone else’s, but to me, that is the explanation for all “Mandela Effect”. Just mass misremembering over something unimportant/inconsequential or incorrect training that your brain made a false memory about based on the original incorrect training.
