Some people only think what they’re told to think.

Not all of course. But enough to be irritating.

I haven’t even played the first one so I’m not at the moment interested. Not the only reason but among them is not “female protagonist “.

I just watched Anypants yap about it. Felt like satire but that guy is really just that reductive. Only complaining about 1 thing lmao.

So the voice actress is trans but is the character also supposed to be trans? I feel like this isn't far off from Ubisoft's George Floyd samurai game.

Mostly a group of people who don't understand these 3 major concepts:
1) It's a video game.
2) It's a fictional video game or in simpler terms for the layman, art.
3). If they sincerely studied Japanese history and culture then they would know some women engaged in martial activity.

How many times has a woman asked you to open up a jar because she just couldn't do it?
But I'm expected to believe they can pick up arms and fight aliens?

I don't think it's just the female protagonist alone. Those comments from the staff member didn't help matters.

Boycotts rarely have anything to do with the merit of the product. They are so named because they were originally devised in the 1880s as a method as striking out against their namesake Captain Charles Boycott, by effectively exiling him from society without actually needing to send him away as would be the case in a normal exiling. You could argue it was not really a fair tactic in his case either. Evicting farmers who could not make rent was part of his job as a land agent.

Indeed, for a boycott to be effective, it has to be against a product you would buy under ordinary circumstances, since otherwise the boycotee does not lose business.

We can argue all day about what causes are worthy of boycott. I'd rather separate the art from the artist in such a case myself. However, it is ultimately up to each person to decide how they vote with their dollars.

They just need any excuse to trash games that does not promote masculinity.

Unless the protagonist go around shouting to everyone in game "Heyyy I'm LGBT respect meee" or doing something similar in story, I'm pretty ok with female protagonist.

Ugly model can be fix with mods.

Because there's too many people who only know to make money off piggybacking on popular games to release ragebait content saying the last popular thing is 'woke' because potato, instead of working in a Pizza Hut like regular people do to make a living.
