I don't understand how a company can be valued at so much.
I'm from the UK and only a handful of our companies have a market cap above $100b. 9 companies to be exact. The highest being AstraZeneca at $257billion.

Then I look at the US and what the ♥♥♥♥, you have 105 companies valued above $100b. The highest being Nvidia at $4.5trillion. That's 17.5x more than AstraZeneca.

I don't even fully understand how much a trillion is, we can't visualise it, we can't imagine it, we can't type it or count to it. It's just a number with a word.

It's just such a diabolical amount of money. And then I see the stock goes up 1.5% in 1 day and boom, another $70billion added... It doesn't seem real to me, it's making me believe I'm living in some weird reality where there's a man behind a computer who just types in a new number everyday.

Like if it can reach $4.5trillion, why not $10trillion, why not $50trillion, why not $100trillion? Money clearly seems to be infinite and meaningless when it comes to the stock market.

Its a hypothetical value, its not real.
You should be asking why the richest company is a drug company.

health insurance companies
Holy dejavu Batman!
market cap =/= value

Nvidia do make a ton of money though.
ever heard of bubbles?

And manipulation? like circular investments with no net impact but supposedly rising vale of all participants significantly on paper -- then speculators move the stock price?

Also, market cap is just a made-up number in the first place, if you started to sell stocks, the price would fall like a rock and you'd get fraction. It's inly usable in those manipualtion transactions swapping ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for catshit.
