Why does Kraft Dinner taste so sweet?
Haven't had KD for like 20 years.

Bought some and it was disgustingly sweet and didn't taste very cheesy.
What's going on?!

Well it's disgusting.
I can eat just about any lukewarm slop if it has cheese on or in it but not this time.

Tastes way too sweet.

Ah, I see the trendy word cycle for "slop" is peaking based on how redundantly it's being used lately. Hopefully on a downtrend soon

Every stupid person and their chronically online mother have been overusing it.

Read the ingredients. You're eating poison.

Unless you're buying dry whole goods, raw meat, fresh or frozen veggies, eggs, cheese, etc, it's full of emulsifiers, stabilizers, preservatives, fillers.

Your body trying to use this stuff is like building a house and all you have for roofing and siding is sheetrock that can't bear weight or handle rain. Badly oversimplified analogy but you get the point.

Plasticizer chemicals everything packaged in is full of literally mimic hormones and specialized proteins, etc and get carried into your cells and used in place of real thing causing disorder and chaos, like filling your gas burning car with diesel.

Some of this stuff, people think because it's tiny amounts and last on ingredients it's not so bad, like pre-cooked rice packet with canola oil (flax seed has to be industrially processed with other chemicals to render even slightly edible) but this is a misconception.

That's like saying a tiny amount of a drug wouldn't be so bad. You don't eat a bowlful of medicine, but the tiny pill your doctor gives you has a profound effect. It's the same with chemicals and additives in your food.

Have a wonderful day!

Edit- you can't even buy cottage cheese any more without emulsifiers and stabilizers. But the feds will conduct military style 6 am home invasions on people trying to privately produce whole dairy goods and sharing them with their community.

The heck is Kraft Dinner?

Just the Mac 'n Cheese? I know Kraft Macaroni & Cheese is a thing, but I never heard of it being called just dinner, and it doesn't make sense to call just mac 'n cheese dinner. I mean it might be served as dinner, but it is really more of a side dish. I was expecting it to be something more like a lunchables except with dinner foods.

In any case, the Kraft Mac 'n Cheese was always kind of bad so it's no big loss really. It's more of the kind of slop a mother on a crunch serves to her undiscriminating kids when she has neither the time nor the energy to make better food.

Welp, I guess somebody finally noticed. Also, I am vaguely surprised that the answer isn't high fructose corn syrup for a change It's probably the annatto. That's a mildly sweet spice. Truth be told, the recipe changes are likely for the better. Particularly the turmeric is rather healthy and anti-inflammatory.

In any case, if my hypothesis is correct, then A Sentient McNugget is not entirely out of luck, because not all Kraft Mac 'n Cheese needs the coloring ingredients. They make a white cheddar and shells variation[www.kraftheinz.com]

It's still not going to be exactly the same, but at least it shouldn't taste unusually sweet because it does not have to be neon orange, so they do not have to add annatto.

Actually, the problem seems to be that they are trying to make it less poisonous, by substituting their artificial food coloring with natural spices and that changed it.
