Any Grunge fans here?
I was born in 1989, and been a fan of rock/metal since i was 5 years old, and one genre that stuck with me was Grunge. Bands like Pearl jam, Sound Garden, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, my favorite Alice in Chains, and more were all music that stuck with me to now. I know its not a genre for everyone, and i know some people find it overrated which is fine, but idk, i love songs from this genre, and curious if others are out there.

I like those bands too, though Nirvana was overplayed in its time and that shotgun thing ruined the vibe.

So you switched to listening to Juno Reactor.

Yeah Nirvana id say is the most overplayed probably.
I listen to it as well from time to time, but imho Stoner Rock is a bit better, while being somewhat similar. In general i don´t care much about genres, and one could also label both as "alternative".

Ah, this thread brings back memories.

I used to listen to grunge back in the early 90s while Cobain was alive.

I was a young lad.

Good times :D
I wouldn't call myself a grunge fan, but I love Alice In Chains.
i like much music.

My introduction to grunge was 'from the muddy banks of wishkah' album.
With a group of friends and someone put this on and it was raw it was passion it was everything i loved about music.

Unplugged in New York album was good too.
"PRoblem" was all their studio albums compared to them was pointless.
Sure, there's good stuff. But I think "grunge" as a genre is a bit a-historical. If you limit it to a few select bands, what's even the point of calling it a genre? And if you broaden the definition, you're really just talking about old rock that tends to be noisier.

This song came to mind immediately, it just started playing in my head.

Their last album was mid-1979. "Grunge" precursors were already active in the early 80s. It's a continuum.
It was a great time. The music is unique and edgy, much like the music of the 60's for uniqueness.
When Nevermind was released it was all I listened to on my walkman almost to the point of being obsessed but gradually I became more interested in GnR and Faith No More. It was a shock when Kurt died and in a way it's a comfort that Dave Grohl has continued in music to become known as one of the nicest guys in the industry, hard working and anti drugs. Dave promotes clean living and is a good influence.

I don't know how the rivalry between Nirvana and GnR (specifically between Axl and Kurt) started but a few days before Kurt died he sat next to Duff McKagan on a flight and they chatted for hours.
you forgot audioslave
