Take a break and stop "forcing" it, do something else for a few days or weeks, come back and more than likely you'll find something more engaging.
We can burn out on anything, and common culture reinforces this false narrative that 'power through it' is the answer. But it's not and never will be; the answer is to just take a break.
Usually because i play games which take a while to get into. But i might re-visit them later (which was something i didn´t do in the past). So in the past two years i basically played the same 5 or 8 games. Each for a couple of weeks / months.
I used to be addicted to a stupid gacha game for years, and it wasn't the only one, I always felt like I had to do these tasks and at one point I stopped, questioned myself on why I even bother, uninstalled them and I felt like a free man. I got more time to enjoy games that are actually worth playing without worrying about dumb artificial content.
I have the same tendency, about 7 games installed and occassionaly peep at what is on sale. I start out in the morning and play for a few hours, do some photo / video editing for another two, go to gym for an hour, then cycle about 30 km. Whatever works for you.
Yeah it's still popular, just nowhere near as popular over OW1.
I've got Baldur's Gate 3 on my to play list, I played it a few months back but wasn't in the right mindset for a game like that. Honestly I think I just need to uninstall every game I have and just have 1 game of each type.
1 multiplayer game.
1 story heavy game.
1 casual chill game.
i spend more time doing 3d artwork or digital drawing so much more freedom
you know its yours and not something that you dont own with 2D drawings or even turning it into a 3d model in blender , so many things one can do be sides sitting in a game chair or you can take photos with real cameras and not with just a cell phone ,
I for myself don´t have Baldur´s Gate 3, because i already played the Pathfinder games, while i wouldn´t necessarily recommend them, because they´re rather all about min maxing and knowing the rules and options - while they lack all kinds of QoL. Baldur´s Gate 3 is probably the more accessible game.
As someone had said above: One doesn´t need to force it, because at the end of the day games should be about having fun - or the time You spend on anything for that matter.
I sometimes interupt my monthlong streak (usually the same game) for a quick d-tour to return to it... but on purpose do not start another large game in the middle of a current one..
if you play stategy games than it is not uncommon to sink 2000 hours in just 1 game.. if not even more..
ofcourse I have a game on my phone I play occationally.... (like those denksport puzzlebooklets you can buy but than on the phone) cryptogram, logical puzzles, crossword, swedish puzzle (this is where you have a crossword layout but 26 numbers.. no hints.. and you have to figure out which number belongs to which letter), japanese puzzle (a bit like minelayer on windows), sometimes a sudoku.)
and a different game on my pc (currenly sank a lot of hours in landlord super.)
and another one I occationally play with friends (some kind of boardgame app.. from risk to monopoly to catan to battleship it has them all)
so for different purposes I have different games.. but when at home to game.. on my pc it's always one game..but I might turn in early and do a bit of puzzles or a boardgame on the phone if I not feel like sitting at my desk..
