And, why would I say this? Well look at western society. I can only speak for America. We have a HUGE obesity epidemic. 2 in 5 adults (over 42%) are obese. loneliness, which steams mainly from isolation which many young people now do because its easier to stay inside, watch Netflix, play video games and engage in porn use. Why focus on developing your social abilities, skills to meet the opposite sex? When all of your needs are met in your home, and on the screen. But, over time this isn't healthy. And so, instead of putting yourself "out there" like previous generations had too, many young people would rather stay home and avoid any hardship. But, its the hardship that makes a person able to withstand the harsh realities that is life. Because life is very difficult and painful.
I feel like something major is going to happen that will force people to respond, and many won't be able too, because they have been conditioned to seek comfort for most of their adult lives. And, many people aren't going to be able to survive.
and hanging out and there where lots of things to do and going to comic book stores and record stores or going to poster stores ..........really great times but when home systems came out
nes and sega that was all so real gaming but today its not the same online and all the and ons and company's would never do that . no one really knows how long the online crazy will last with every hobby as you get older your likes change and your music changes as you get older
@OP, " Waste of time " could be considered any hobby. If you think that playing video games is wasting your time then find other hobbies and reduce your gaming.
It's because they lacked that interest to build Y. They can stop doing X, but they will still do every other random things except Y.
As far as they know, I don't play them at all. Not that I can fool them forever.
How many people complain about spending so much time on work after they retire? Or on basically anything they think wasn´t worthwhile after a while?
It´s always better to think a bit ahead, and about the consequences, and opportunity costs, and about alternatives. But the most reasonable thing to do is usually either playing video games, or posting in off topic.
You value art? Great, pursue it. Mathematics of some kind? Sure. Science? Ditto. Maybe you like going for long walks, yep, that's a worthy use of your time if you find such a thing fulfilling. Socializing? You bet. Playing a game here and there in your off hours? You know what I'm going to say.
Limiting yourself to one narrow path and avoiding any diversions down the road is a bit silly, nothing's stopping you from socializing or anything for that matter. Adhere (or don't) to social norms, live your life, etc, etc. Cheers.
You feel like you work too much and spend time with friends/family but then have no time for yourself. Or people who simply feel forced to work most of their day away.
With ultimate freedom in every way shape or form (travel, living standard, food, health) is all determined by how much money you have. Im not saying money solves all problems..but the possibilities nowaday are endless. Its not as simple as buying a nice little home and settling in with someone. So everyone wants wants wants and the constant need for things makes everything eventually super competitive.
Yeah man, I mean we used to have friends come over to play 007 on gamecube and mario on nes. Then we got into the internet age and everyone in games were actually using mics. Now its not like that. The only way you meet people is if you make an extra effort to join a group or something.
Games used to be like board games and people gathered around or atleast when it evolved a night full on hanging with some people playing a game on a mic for the whole night. This doesnt really happen much anymore with most new games.
