Why are people saying GTA 6 is woke pandering from the trailer?
For years, I’ve been watching a YouTuber named worthabuy. He’s always been someone I trusted with his assessment on games because he really does seem passionate about the quality in today’s standards and knows how great AAA games were back then compared to now (Half-Life, old Blizzard, etc.).

However, over the years I’ve also noticed this sort of weird reactionary view that comes out in his videos as of late. I for sure think Farcry 6 and the new Spider-Man have “woke”, cringe characters, for example. His reaction to some other games, though, have made me scratch my head. This one puzzle game where it’s just you and a abstract looking environment was somehow woke and now GTA 6’s trailer.

I’ve watched the trailer over just to see where it is woke and I’m still unsure. Is it because one of the main characters is a women? So? There’s been crime movies from the 70s with similar premises (Badlands). She doesn’t have dyed hair and or an undercut or even piercings. She doesn’t even really say anything.

Maybe it’s the NPCs walking about modern Vice City? In the trailer they’re mostly Black/Latino and there’s a cringe scene of a Black woman twerking on top of a car. Firstly, VC is supposed to be what Miami is, clearly. Miami is overwhelmingly NON-WHITE. The whole twerking stuff is a reflection of the modern-day, cringe social media we observe all over.

I can draw direct relevance to all the demographic and other media references in the trailer without it boiling down to “checking off boxes”, which is how he describes the whole trailer in the video.

Thoughts?

they could have you walking around the streets as a pile of dog scat and call it GTA6 and people will buy it up.

I've said it before and ill say it again. 'gamers' are the most masochistic moronic customer base on the planet.

it absolutely does not matter for 1 second. Its GTA6. game will make tons of cash even if its a heap of :DSTpoop: ..

The reason you might see the change in reaction-y channels, not only related to gaming but whole other entertainment media, is simple- views. And views usually mean money that follows behind it.

It's easier to follow a trend in which you get something easy to ramble about and produces views than to make, God forbid, actual interesting content.
Trailer has POC or women? Boom, easy topic to cover, say it's woke, you have a video on your hands. Add that usual thumbnail with angry women, red eyes, words "flop" or "sjw" and you are covered. Especially if we talk about big thing as GTA 6 which will only bring more clicks.

Sadly I dare to say whole "I don't like something means it's woke" culture was brought from Youtube when people found out it generates clicks. Remember San Andreas and how people cried about playing as a black guy in full blown gang warfare? No, because back in those days Youtube didn't exist and people were only rambling about it on smaller forums, being laughed upon and stating obvious racism. Half of those channels who follow "woke stuff" don't actually care about it, they want to make easy videos to promote themselfs and get easy cash and attention.

But like if you think its ok to have sexual themes in childrens movies. Maybe give that a second thought. When theres an active agenda to include these topics in every single film. Thats called grooming.

Because it's a Youtube video and it drives drama traffic of cringey adults acting like kids (because Gen Z is more mature and they need to make up for it) going 'woke', 'woke', 'woke', 'WoRke', 'WOK-REEE'!

No they're not. Comments specifically under the video I mentioned were going off solely the trailer. Now, tell me - what is this source regarding development you speak of? I thought you'd at least mention it in your comment.

there is nothing in the trailer suggest anything of the sort. When we find out from Rockstar themselves in blogs and have a more concrete bit of information to work with, you can find out if there is any of that woke stuff or not.

oh look trailers have mislead again, oh what a shocker.
