I have my moments. But they're never funny and I want to die after I say them.

Really, because that one was so bad I am sure it is legally punishable.

Did you feel a piece of your soul just die?

I do. People either laugh or get offended. Fortunately, most people laugh because I know who to say them around.

I try not to, but sometimes the pun/joke is so obvious that I can't resist making it. I don't others find it funny though.

I have a friend who's a PI and was telling me about a case he was investgating, and I thought some of the information in his story would be useful for any of you aspiring detectives out there. Though this case was a few years ago (it's only recently been de-classified) it really is relevant to almost any sort of investigating now or in the future.

My friend was investigating a case involving an organized crime ring in a city that I can't say the name of ( ;-) It starts with 'New' and ends with 'York') he had a small pool of suspects that he thought were couriers for the big man, and he finally narrowed it down to only a few of them. After a few weeks he was pretty sure which suspect he was after, so he started tailing him. I shouldn't mention any names (but just to keep the suspects straight, his name starts with a 'David' and ends with 'Boyles'). So my friend followed him everyday, and sent his underlings to stake-out the house at night. Monday morning my friend followed David Boyles from his home. He noticed that Boyles was driving a red Honda Accord and carrying a dark brown briefcase. He followed Boyles to a local coffee joint where the man ate a bacon and egg biscuit for breakfast, and had a medium coffee with 2 packs of sugar and 3 packs of half-and-half. From there my friend followed Boyles to his place of work, an architectural firm. He set up in a parking garage across the street from which he could see through Boyles' office window, my friend watched him work all day, nothing suspicious happened. At lunch, he tailed Boyles to a local Taco Bell. The man ordered a quesadilla, two hardshell tacos, and a coke. He left without talking to anyone or doing anything suspicious. My friend watched him at his job the rest of the day. At about 2 O'clock someone brought him coffee. My friend could see the cup clearly. Nothing suspicious. He even broke into the office later that night, found the empty paper cup in the trash and verified that there was nothing suspicious. He also hacked into the surveillance footage record for the building, and saw that the woman who brought Boyles coffee was his secretary, and had gotten normal coffee from a normal coffee maker. Nothing suspicious. Mr. Boyles went home, watched TV, ate soup for dinner, and went to bed. Nothing suspicious happened.

Tuesday morning he again followed David Boyles from his home. Boyles brought the same briefcase, and drove the same red Honda. He followed Boyles to a local coffee joint where the man ate a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit for breakfast, and had a medium coffee with 2 packs of sugar and 3 packs of half-and-half. From there my friend followed Boyles to the architectural firm. He set up in a parking garage across the street from which he could see through Boyles' office window, my friend watched him work all day, nothing suspicious happened. At lunch, he tailed Boyles to a local Burger King. The man ordered a burger, fries, and a coke. He left without talking to anyone or doing anything suspicious. My friend watched him at his job the rest of the day. At about 2 O'clock someone brought him coffee. Again, nothing suspicious. His secretary had gotten normal coffee from a normal coffee maker. Mr. Boyles went home, watched TV, ate mac and cheese for dinner, and went to bed. Nothing suspicious happened.

Wednesday morning he again followed David Boyles from his home. Boyles brought the same briefcase, and drove the same red Honda. He followed Boyles to a local coffee joint where the man ate a ham and egg biscuit for breakfast, and had a medium coffee with 2 packs of sugar and 3 packs of half-and-half. As Boyles was leaving my friend noticed a very sketchy looking man in a trench coat loitering outside the coffee shop, he recognized him as one of his other prime suspects, but, being sure that Boyles was his man he ignored the man in the trench coat. From there my friend followed Boyles to the architectural firm. He set up in a parking garage across the street from which he could see through Boyles' office window, my friend watched him work all day, nothing suspicious happened. At lunch, he tailed Boyles to a local McDonalds. The man ordered a chicken sandwich, fries, and a coke. He left without talking to anyone or doing anything suspicious. On the way back to his job, my friend saw the sketchy man in the trench coat again. This time he was also wearing a shady fedora. This was slightly suspicious, so he made note of the suspect (Donald Pott). But my friend watchedBoyles at his job the rest of the day. At about 2 O'clock someone brought him coffee. Again, nothing suspicious. But my friend saw on the street below Mr. Pott was now wearing his trench coat, his shady fedora, and dark sunglasses. Suddenly he saw a car pull up, Mr. Potts talked to a man in the back seat, gave him a paper, took some money, and they all parted ways. As the car passed, my friend saw, in the moments before the windows rolled back up, that the man in the back seat was the head of the criminal organization he was investigating. He realized that Donal Pott was actually the man he was looking for. Which just goes to show that you should watch Pott, never Boyles.
Jokes, rarely. But puns are always fun because it leaves a bit of 'mystery' on what it could possibly mean ;)
