When Friendster was popular and everyone in school had an account on it, before Facebook became the new in thing. And everyone's profile page had autoplay music and fancy CSS styles.

There was also the SARS pandemic in 2003 and schools were closed for 2 weeks while everyone was urged to stay at home or wear face masks in public.
