Learn BASIC first. Then get good at math and learn C++

Code what exactly?

Web coding is a nice place to start, HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript etc..
https://www.codecademy.com/

The basics are easy to learn, no need to compile anything and other complicated things like that.

Who sues BASIC anymore?
If you wanna start, start with turbo pascal and then Delphi where C++ is absed upon. And With Delphi at least you can programm somethign usefull and visual working.

But anyway always depend on what you wanna do. Unless you want to do hardcore game coding Java would be the better language which can earn you good moeny and you can program for multiple plattforms.
otherwise if you not want to program games or workign apps then liek OMega said, HTML would be a good start to understand basics of programmign and thene xtend HTML with CSS and afterwards PHP for the real advanced stuff.

I didn't know BASIC was under a lawsuit.

Turbo Pascal is a software development system that includes a compiler and an integrated development environment for the Pascal programming language running on CP/M, CP/M-86, and MS-DOS.

so? Object pascal =/= Pascal. It is the surpasser of Turbo Pascal. The languages are nto even the same. The just have many similarities. Thats why my school staretd with Turbo Pascal in 7th Grade in the advanced math class and switching in 8th Grade with Delphi.

But if you would have ever used both languages you would know that the structure is very simliar but the commands are different.

Web programming is a good place to start like Omega said. Start with HTML, then CSS and some Java/PHP. Python is another we learned in introductory programming class too, and SQL is another easy one with alot of practical applications, particularly in business and analytics.

This is actually another good answer so far. Though I would also put learning how to bind/bundle code from those languages together using XML into it as well. Quite handy for modding games that use it. *Points to SimplePlanes*.

IMO, Unity Engine or an Arduino.

Very easy to start with and get into, big online communities for support, and most importantly much more interesting than making webpages.

Dont worry about specific languages at this pt. Just get in there, start messing around and get a taste for programming in general.

you first have to watch the 1's and 0's screensaver for 6 hours straight, after that pick an anime wife and then you are ready to program

Ha, programming is for nerds! On an unrelated note, I recommend Arduino.

I believe you're thinking of hacking. The kid wants to learn to program. You know, the boring one.

No, there is a big difference. Hacking is cool. Programming is less cool.

OP, don't bother with Basic. It's a dead language.

Like Latin. Or Danish
