My suggestion is to just try it.
Or check some YT reviews. Or ask on reddit.
I haven’t tried it myself but it looks similar to Arch Linux but without systemD.
Slower rolling so probably more stable without random self destruct functionality. Also smaller than Arch so you may occasionally have some trouble finding some apps, especially in official repository. User custom repos are probably smaller as well.
Looks good overall. Just not as easy as Mint if it asks user to prepare partitions manually with cfdisk.
Cool name for a distro.
I decided to risk it. Installed it with the XFCE desktop. Left the layout as-is but changed the colors/icons a bit. I'll keep it simple since I mostly want to see how this will perform. Also, added flatpak support and non-free/multilib repos.
Already noticing a difference. From the get go it has a lot less random services enabled by default than Arch and the package manager is oddly fast.
I struggled to make a couple things work. Steam for example is not as straightforward of an install like in Arch. Appearantly, there is a document to help install steam but it's buried somewhere in the drive but by the time I learned about it I already found my solution online. lol
Most of the remaining issues I had was more due to me not being used to XFCE than anything else. Theming was a bit dodgy for that reason lol.
Overall, it gives me a good first impression. But, I'll have to see over the coming week how this installation holds.
Also take in to consideration that it does not use Systemd, so software which relies upon it may have to be patched or is not available on Void at all.
Do not use the MUSL variant unless you what this means, just opt for the Glibc one instead.
I do not recommend Void unless you are a distro entusiast and know Linux well enough to install and configure a system from scratch on your own.
But overal I do really like the distro.
